We rocked St Andrews to the roof at our first annual The Music Bus Bandslam!

Everyone was a winner, all the bands and soloists were impressive and it was a tough job for the judges. We were astounded by how talented and confident all the kids were. The Results were:

Band Competition

First Place: “Falling Skies” from St Clares Narellan Vale. Well done Michael, Carl and Flynn.
Second Place: “A.B.C.D” from Harrington Park Public School. Well done Kayla, Angus, Cameron, Blake and Jayden.
Third Place: “Shockwave” from St Anthony’s Picton. Well done Reuben, McAndrew, Matthew, Felicity and Kyle.

THE MUSIC BUS LAUNCH PROGRAM

We’d love to come to your school or OOSH facility! Here is some information on how your school or OOSH can take part in The Music Bus program.

Information pack - we send you a free information pack to present to your P & C Committee and/or School Principal and/or OOSH.
Free presentation - we can come to your P & C meeting/School/OOSH to present the benefits of The Music Bus. At an agreed time, usually your monthly committee meeting, we bring the bus to your school where you can meet our teacher, view our music lab and teaching resources, watch a DVD of a class in action and have all questions answered.
Free showday – we then organise a showday for all the students at the school.
Expression of interest forms – are provided to you to distribute to all families. This gives both The Music Bus and the school an idea of what classes can be launched.
Then we work with you to formulate an appropriate schedule that suits your school.

The kids exceeded our expectations and each year the quality of the song writers we have amazes us.

The Music Bus is proud to promote excellence in the art of songwriting and nurture outstanding young talent. We had over 1,000 entries submitted by students from over 100 schools. The overall standard was extremely high and The Music Bus teachers were delighted at the original and creative musical works created by the children.

The winners, listed above, will receive a

•Recorded version of song on CD
•$150 Billy Hyde/Allans Music Voucher

These will be presented at the upcoming annual concerts in November. Congratulations to our winners and we are proud of all the children that submitted an entry.

We welcome and encourage ALL students to attend irrespective of the length of time they have been learning. Even children who have been attending for a few weeks will find this a valuable experience. Tickets are available on the day at the door.

The cost is $5 for 1 adult / $10 per family (unlimited numbers), this covers the cost of the venue & staff for the day

The children are preparing two songs and they should start practising from NOW. Please encourage your child to practise their concert songs more than usual.

There have been media reports of a Teachers Strike Wednesday 2nd November. It’s business as usual at The Music Bus and all teachers will be attending schools as normal.

The concert provides a wonderful opportunity to see and hear your child in action. Performance is also an important element in music education.

The children are preparing two songs and they should start practising from NOW. Please encourage your child to practise their concert songs more than usual.

On the day we ask

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your starting session – Encourage the children to remain quiet while on the waiting.
Dress code is smart casual (NO school uniform).
Children to may sit with family until they are required on stage.
Your child’s teacher will be on stage to assist and encourage. The kids come on stage in small groups to make the experience less daunting.
Please try and stay until the end of your session so that all children have an audience.
All performers will receive a small award.

The concert is always a lot of fun for both the performers and the audience. It is a great chance for families to support the efforts of our students and to round off the year together elevated by the spirit of Christmas.

Congratulations to Ryan Wasilewski from Panania Public School who was the winner of the P21 Practice Challenge. Ryan has received his $200 Billy Hyde/Allans gift voucher and is looking forward to stocking up on lots of music goodies.

We had hundreds of entries and we were impressed by the quality of all of them. The children all learned the value of practice, however we’re sure some of the parents are glad it’s over.

Music Bus Rocks this holiday break!

The Music Bus recently launched its Vacation Care Holiday Rockstars program with great success.

The Music Bus is visiting Vacation Care centres right across Sydney and Wollongong with children enjoying competitions, talent quests, games and prizes and are made to feel like rockstars. It is a very interactive and hands-on experience for the kids who also get to have a go at playing the drums, guitar and keyboards on the bus.

The Fun 4 U Vacation Care Centre in Helensburgh recently had the Music Bus visit for the day and found the program to be a Number 1 Hit for the kids at their centre.

Fun 4 U director, Annette Potter, said of the Music Bus “The kids had such a great time and we will definitely be booking you for the next holidays. Your staff are so good with the kids.”

Wollongong Music bus franchisee, Jade Papesch, said, “The maiden Vacation Care voyage went great guns yesterday. The kids had a ball – even asking our performers to sign autographs. They were stars!”

The Music Bus Vacation Care program is taking bookings for all school holiday periods in 2011 and spaces are filling fast.

Bus Rock entertains the Balgownie Fete crowd

The Bus Rock program was centre stage at the Balgownie Public School fete at the end of 2010.

With great weather and a large crowd in attendance several Music Bus students took to the stage to entertain the audience.

One of the real hits was the performance by the Corrimal East Public School Rock Band. They were able to showcase their enormous potential and gain valuable perfomance experience on the day.

Music Bus CEO, Fions Sutton, says, “It is such a worthwhile thing for us to be able to put back into the community and support local events. The kids really enjoy being able to jam up on stage and I am sure it is most entertaining for the crowds that flock to these events.”

The Music Bus and Roland Corp join forces!

The Music Bus is excited to announce that Roland Corp, one of the largest manufacturers of digital musical instruments has decided to board the Music Bus!

“We are so excited to be associated with Roland Corporation Australia. Over the last few months we have been able to integrate two of their products into our mobile classroom – the JamHub and the HD-1 Digital Drum Kits. This has added a whole new dimension to our classes and our teaching staff have noticed a significant increase in the efficiency, quality and enjoyment of the classes. The transition to Roland products has truly taken the quality of our equipment and expected teaching outcomes to a new level and we see it as a huge asset to the growth of The Music Bus in children’s music education.”

Roland Corp have installed the latest HD-1 digital drum kits in 2 of the buses and will be fitting out the entire fleet in 2011. They have also supplied the innovative JAMHUB – the music lab rehearsal unit that is revoultionising class room music tuition.

The Music Bus is very proud of its association with Roland.

Roland has also recently sponsored the highly successful recent Music Bus Mi-Tunes song-writing competition providing R-05 MP3 recorders for the winners.

We are looking forward to a long and successful association with this leader in music technology.
