About – Opportunities
Our program is based on the premise that MUSIC IS FUN and around the idea that this is a unique opportunity for children to experience music.
Being part of the The Music Bus team is fun and rewarding and we invite you to share our vision of bringing music to children right across Australia in an exciting way.
The Music Bus employs team members in the following categories:
1) Instrumental Teacher
- Instruments taught include: Keyboard, Guitar, Drums, Singing and Rock band.
- Teachers need to be a specialist in either keyboard or guitar and be proficient at teaching the other instruments.
- A typical day involves 8-14 half hour classes usually between the hours of 8:00am and 5:00pm.
- Classes are held in our Mobile Music lab that visits 3-5 schools/centres per day.
(Note: Some buses also visit pre-school/kindy centres providing a specific program for that age group)
2) Birthday Party Entertainer
This is a weekend position suited to an outgoing, young, vibrant musician who loves to entertain kids.
Position involves driving the Music Bus to birthday party locations to conduct 2 hour structured parties. Activities will include: demonstration of instruments, competitions, recording of a song with the children and having lots of fun! Full training and a structured program and resources are provided. Up to 4 parties per weekend can be scheduled. (all daytime)
3) Vacation Care - Crew Member
This is a school holiday position suited to someone who loves working with children. Experience working in the vacation care or after school care or early learning environment would be valuable but not essential.
Will involve conducting games and competitions with the children, supervision of simple craft/art activities and having fun! You would be working with an experienced performer/educator.
The Music Bus will provide:
- induction training in all aspects of the position
- ongoing training via regular training days, feedback sessions, mentoring
- all teaching resources
- all instruments, equipment and the The Music Bus teaching vehicle
- a carefully planned timetable to maximize the number of sessions per day
Selection Criteria
We are looking for vibrant, enthusiastic, committed team members with a passion for bringing Music to life! You will need to be willing to embrace the The Music and ideals, be punctual and responsible, presentable, and be able to liaise with parents, school staff and children.
Above all you need to be inspired by working with children and making music fun!
Requirements:
All applicants must maintain a current Drivers Licence and undergo a police check as per Working with Children Legislation.
